Why Queensland Reserves Plumbing for Licence Holders
Queensland puts plumbing and drainage work behind two licences: an occupational licence for whoever does the work, and a contractor licence for the business that carries the job. The QBCC grants both.
An occupational licence proves the holder is trained and tested for that class of work. A contractor licence proves the business behind the job can carry it financially and is run by someone with the training to do so.
Three licence classes cover the trades themselves. A plumber's licence covers the fixtures and pipes inside a property, beyond a small set of tasks with extra endorsements. A drainer's licence covers the drains below ground level.
